Ivy Tech offers free class to 2012 grads & GED recipients

March 8, 2012

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin is offering a free, three-credit class this coming fall semester to recent high school or home-schooled 2012 graduates and GED recipients who are residents of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and the southern portion of Johnson Counties.

The course must be taken during the 2012 fall semester, which begins August 20; students may take any three-credit class offered by the Columbus region; they will be responsible for textbooks and any applicable fees.

Students are encouraged to enroll early in order to reserve a seat in the class in which they are interested.

“This is the sixth year we’ve offered recent graduates a free class at Ivy Tech,” said Chancellor John Hogan. “We’ve found this is a great way for those contemplating to get their feet wet and discover the benefits of taking college classes locally.”

The class may be taken at any one of the Ivy Tech sites, including Columbus, Nashville, Greensburg, Seymour, North Vernon, and Franklin.
