Jeremy Ryan McQueary, Feb. 18, 2010
Jeremy Ryan McQueary, of Nashville, died Thursday, February 18, 2010, during a combat offensive in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. A Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years, he was 27.
Sgt. McQueary was born January 28, 1983, in Columbus to Dallas Ray and Deborah (Furnish) McQueary.
He is survived by his wife, Rae (Proffitt) McQueary of Nashville; his infant son, Hadley North Mac McQueary; mother and step-father, Deborah and David Kleinschmidt of Columbus; his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Julie (Perkins) Proffitt of Nashville; one sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Scott Willison of Columbus; a grandfather, Joseph Furnish of Alexandria; five nieces; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas McQueary.
A memorial service will full military honors will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2010, at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center in Nashville. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
An informal celebration of life will follow the military honors.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or to the National Humane Association, in care of Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville, Indiana, 47448.
