Dorothy (Holmes) Jackson, a former teacher in Brown County Schools, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Nashville. She was 80.
Mrs. Jackson was born October 23, 1929, in Indianapolis to the late Everett and Mildred Louise (Squires) Holmes.
She taught in Brown County Schools for 22 years and was a member of New Life Community Church, Eastern Star and Indiana State Teachers’ Association. She graduated from Indiana University with a master’s degree and loved to read and play bridge.
Survivors include four sons, Stephen M. and Barbara Jackson, Phillip K. and Pam Jackson, Brooks B. and Kathy Wilson and Scott and Laura Jackson; one daughter, Julie and Willie Arnold; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Allen Holmes Sr.
Others preceding her in death were her husband of 54 years, Phillip K. Jackson in September 2002; one sister, Beverly Sevenish; and one grandson, Mike Jackson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, at New Life Community Church in Nashville with Earl Piper officiating.
Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
