José Heaton, formerly of Nashville, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Guatemala City. He was 20.

Heaton was the adopted son of the Reverend Thomas Spencer Heaton, former pastor of Nashville United Methodist Church who is currently serving as and Elder in the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and as director of the United Methodist-related Mission Guatemala.

Survivors include his adopted father, Thomas Heaton, and a brother, Manuel Heaton, both of Evansville; and a younger birth sister, Bea, and a grandmother, both of Guatemala.

A funeral was held for Heaton on Sunday, July 11, 2010, and he was buried Monday, July 12, in Guatemala City.
