George Henry “Hank” Swain died Monday, March 3, 2014, at home. He was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of George Henry and Elizabeth Hardy Swain. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1936 and attended Indiana University. A Quaker pacifist, he spent years during World War II in camps for conscientious objectors, performing conservation labor for the government.
He married Margaret “Mardi” Coman on May 10, 1946. He and Mardi came to Brown County in 1947. Hank operated Brown County Builders for 35 years, building 53 homes, most of his own design. Continue ReadingRead More
